On Thursday 8th May is the 80th Anniversary of VE Day. On 8th of May 1945, people across Britain and other countries around the world celebrated the end of World War II in Europe.
This day became known as VE day, which stands for ‘Victory in Europe Day’. It marked the moment when the fighting in Europe stopped, and peace could begin again after years of conflict, hardship and loss. 80 years on, we remember this important moment- not just to look back, but to think about what peace means today and why it still matters.
